Executive Changes
The SMHA Executive would like to announce that at our last executive meeting held February 1, 2012, Brett Martel made a motion to the executive for a vote on re-appointing Jamie Allen as president.
The motion was passed. Brett communicated that with the number of new executive members elected, who will take office at the upcoming AGM, he felt it in the best interest of the association to have Jamie re-appointed to the position.
Although Jamie has been working with Brett over the last several months in the position he has held for less than a year, with the number of new executive members that do not have experience with SMHA's administrative processes and with the short time Brett has been in the position, and after careful consideration and conversations with Jamie, it was decided that they would bring the motion to vote by the rest of the executive.
Jamie and Brett will continue to work closely together and look forward to working with the returning and new executive members of this great association. You can reach either Jamie or Brett by email at president@surreyminor.com address, and can continue working with either of them.

Body Checking vs Body Contact
Evening Surrey MHA membership,
I would like to thank those that took the time to submit their opinion in our Body Checking vs Body Contact survey that was running on our website.
The results we received were favoring to keep "Body Checking" over Body Contact in all C divisions, as well as Pee Wee A, and we went ahead to voice our memberships view accordingly. As you have likely heard, on Sunday Jan 22 there was a PCAHA Extraordinary General Meeting in which a vote took place that would decide what would happen in the 2012-2013 season.
At the completion of the meeting, it was decided that all C divisions (to include PeeWee, Bantam & Midget), as well PeeWee A would all revert to Body Contact upon completion of this season.
A news release from PCAHA has come out, explaining their view on the decision.
